Music Monday: ‘Merica!

One of these days I’ll get around to making a real post! Until then, I’ll continue sharing on Music Monday. While I’m here I will tell you that I talked to Sharman Vesecky, the woman I mentioned in a previous post. She had some helpful information to offer and could quite possibly have some records on the infamous Steinway! *excitement*

You’ve probably already seen this video because it’s gone viral over the past week but it’s too good not to share! The first time I watched it I got chills. This makes me proud to be a choir nerd!

Did you know that Condoleezza Rice, the first female African-American, secretary of state, plays Piano? Well she does, and she played for Queen Elizabeth!

Music Monday: The Slacker Returns

I’ve been slacking big time people! I’m currently working on a couple of posts (an update and a family story! I am SO excited to share!) but they’re going to take a couple of days to finish. I thought, since today is a Monday that I’d at least do a “Music Monday” post to tide you over!

I found this gem of a video over break and thought it was perfect for a day like Music Monday!

Side note: I thought the time appropriate hair was a nice touch!

Music Monday: Christmas Dinner and a Show

I have a thing for all things Christmas! Christmas music, decorations, movies, pjs… The list goes on. This is one of my favorite scenes from a Christmas movie! I hope it brings you as much joy as it does me!

Puzzle Pieces

I’ll start off by saying, HAPPY THURSDAY! It’s a great day for an update!

The video you just watched is the newest piece to the puzzle. You may remember my post a couple of weeks ago about finding a piece of my Great-Grandmother’s music with “Whittle Music Co.” stamped on the front. This discovery would have put me quite a bit closer to finding the Piano if Whittle were still in business. Sadly, it is not.

No fear! Through this video I have found Sharman Vesecky, who I believe to have been connected to Whittle Music before its closing (and quite possibly could have known a member of my family).  She is a professor at a local college in Dallas.

My next step, is to send her an e-mail (her email address is listed on the college’s website) explaining my project.  My hope is that she will be able to direct me to another clue.   Keep your fingers crossed!

Music Monday: Let's Just Pretend

Due to a VERY busy Monday I totally forgot to make my “Music Monday” post! To make up for my forgetfulness, instead of only sharing one music related something, I’m sharing three!

1. Singing is healthy! (See photo) I believe strongly in the first benefit listed. On a particularly rough day, belting out one of my favorite songs can lift my spirits!

2.An interesting fact: On this day in 1888, The First (known) recording of classical music was made (Handel’s Israel in Egypt on wax cylinder)

3. Finally something musical and slightly unconventional!

Have a wonderful day everyone!
